Weather in Armenia

The best time to visit Armenia is during spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October), when the weather is pleasant across most of the country and the landscapes are at their most beautiful. Spring brings wildflowers to the hillsides and mild temperatures ideal for monastery visits and hiking, while autumn turns the forests and vineyards to rich golds and reds and is the season of the harvest, with grape-picking and winemaking bringing villages to life. Temperatures in Yerevan during these seasons range from a comfortable 15°C to 25°C (59°F–77°F).

Summer (July–August) in Yerevan can be intensely hot, with temperatures regularly exceeding 35°C (95°F), though the city's mountain setting means evenings are cooler. The highlands of Dilijan and the area around Lake Sevan offer cooler refuges during summer heat. Winter (December–February) brings heavy snow to much of the country, with temperatures dropping well below zero in the mountains; this is ideal for skiing at Tsakhkadzor but less practical for monastery-hopping and hiking. The grape harvest in September and Armenia's many autumn food and wine festivals are additional reasons to time a visit for early autumn.
