To-Do List Creator

Add tasks, mark them done, copy your list as text or save it as a file — all in your browser.

No tasks yet — add one above!

    About this tool

Your tasks are saved to your browser's localStorage — they persist across page refreshes until you clear them. Use Copy as Text to paste your list into an email or document. Use Save as .txt to download the list as a plain-text file. Nothing is ever sent to a server.

Why Sometimes the Best Task Manager Is the Simplest One

Full-featured task management apps are genuinely great — when you need them. But when you just want to jot down five things you need to get done today, opening Notion or Todoist and setting up a board, creating labels, and choosing a view type is overkill. This to-do list is the simpler answer. Open it, type a task, press Enter, repeat. Your tasks are saved to your browser's localStorage automatically — they'll still be there after you close the tab and come back hours later. No account. No subscription. No signup friction. Just a place to put your list.

    Key Features

    • Priority flags: Mark tasks as High (🔴), Medium (🟡), or Low (🟢) priority — color-coded dots appear next to each task for instant visual scanning.
    • Filter tabs: Switch between All, Active (uncompleted), and Completed views to focus on what matters right now without deleting anything.
    • Live stats: A quick summary shows total tasks, completed count, and remaining — so you always know where you stand.
    • LocalStorage persistence: Tasks are saved automatically with every change. They survive tab closes, browser restarts, and page refreshes.
    • Copy as Text: Grab your entire task list as a numbered, checkbox-formatted text block — paste it into an email, document, or message.
    • Save as .txt: Download the list as a plain text file to archive, share, or open in any text editor.

    Real-Life Use Cases

    • Daily work task list: Start each morning by listing the day's tasks. Tick them off as you go. Filter by Active to stay focused on what's remaining.
    • Shopping and errand lists: Build a quick list before heading out — it saves in your browser so you can check it on the same device at the store.
    • Pre-meeting prep lists: Write discussion points or action items before a meeting, then copy as text to paste into your meeting notes afterwards.
    • Project micro-tasking: Break a big project into individual next actions and mark them done one by one — satisfying and keeps momentum going.
    • Shared task lists: Complete your list, export as .txt, and email it to a colleague or manager as a simple status update.

    Who Can Use This Tool

Anyone who needs a lightweight, zero-friction task list without the overhead of a full productivity app. Remote workers managing their daily workload. Students tracking assignments and study tasks. People running errands who want a quick checklist. Freelancers who want to capture action items from a client call without switching away from the browser. The tool is intentionally simple — it doesn't have recurring tasks, due dates, or project hierarchies. If you need those things, use a dedicated app. If you just need a list, this is it.

    Tips & Best Practices

    • Use priorities to separate urgent from important: Mark everything that must happen today as High, everything that should happen as Medium, and everything you want to do when possible as Low.
    • Filter by Active during work sessions: Hide completed tasks from view so you're only looking at what still needs doing — reduces the mental noise of a partially-checked list.
    • Use "Clear Completed" at end of day: Once you've finished your daily review, clear completed tasks to start fresh tomorrow — you can export the list first if you want a record.
    • Use Copy as Text for standup notes: Before a daily standup or status email, copy the list and paste it as a quick "done/doing/todo" summary.
    • Bookmark the page: Since tasks persist in localStorage on the same browser, bookmark this page and it becomes your daily task hub — always up-to-date, always accessible.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Will my tasks be saved if I close the browser?
Yes. Tasks are saved to your browser's localStorage automatically after every change. They will still be there when you reopen the page — even after closing the tab or restarting the browser — as long as you do not clear your browser data.
Are my tasks stored on a server?
No. All tasks are stored locally in your browser using localStorage. Nothing is sent to any server. Your task list is completely private and only visible on the device and browser you created it in.
How do I export or share my task list?
Use the Copy as Text button to copy all tasks to your clipboard, or click Save as .txt to download the list as a plain-text file. You can then paste it into an email, document, or messaging app.
What do the priority colours mean?
Priorities are visual indicators you set yourself. 🔴 Red = High priority, 🟡 Yellow = Medium priority, 🟢 Green = Low priority. They appear as coloured dots next to each task and help you focus on what matters most.
    Can I reorder tasks?
The current version adds tasks in the order entered. To reprioritise, use the priority flag (High/Medium/Low) and filter by "Active" to focus on unfinished tasks. Full drag-to-reorder may be added in a future update.
