Weather in Barbados

Barbados enjoys a reliably warm Caribbean climate year-round, with trade winds moderating what would otherwise be intense heat, but the peak dry season from December through April offers the most consistently brilliant conditions for a beach holiday. Temperatures hover between 24°C and 30°C, rainfall is minimal, and the sea on the west coast is at its calmest and clearest — ideal for snorkelling, sailing, and simply floating. This is also high season, meaning prices are at their highest and popular beaches busier, so booking accommodation months ahead is essential.

The shoulder months of May and June, and again October and November, offer a sweet spot of lower prices, thinner crowds, and still-excellent weather before the Atlantic hurricane season peaks in September and October. Barbados sits slightly south of the main hurricane belt and has been historically less affected than many Caribbean neighbours, but tropical storms can still bring heavy rain and disrupted travel between June and November. The Crop Over Festival period of June through August brings an extraordinary cultural energy to the island that many visitors specifically time their trips to experience, despite it being technically the wet season.
