Weather in Belarus

Belarus is a country of four distinct seasons, each offering a different experience. Summer, from June through August, is undoubtedly the most popular time to visit: temperatures reach a pleasant 22°C to 27°C, the forests are lush, lakes and rivers invite swimming and kayaking, and the long daylight hours give you maximum time for sightseeing. The Slavianski Bazar international arts festival in Vitebsk each July is a major cultural highlight that draws performers from across the post-Soviet world. Spring from April through May offers beautiful woodland wildflowers and migratory birds arriving in the Polesie wetlands, with manageable crowds and crisp, clear days.

Autumn is arguably the most visually stunning season — September and October turn the birch and oak forests into corridors of amber and gold, mushroom-foraging is a national pastime, and the harvest festivals in rural villages offer a window into a way of life untouched by modernity. Winter runs from November through March with genuine cold (temperatures regularly drop to minus ten or colder) and substantial snowfall that transforms the landscapes into a monochrome scene of birch forests and frozen lakes. Christmas and New Year celebrations are elaborate, with ice sculptures and winter markets in Minsk, and cross-country skiing trails open across the national parks for outdoor enthusiasts.
