Weather in Cameroon

Cameroon's best visiting window is the dry season from November to February, when roads are passable throughout the country and wildlife watching in northern parks is excellent. During these months, the north stays hot but pleasant (30–35°C), the western highlands are cooler and green, and the coast is warm without heavy rainfall. This is the ideal period for trekking Mount Cameroon and exploring Waza National Park when animals congregate around shrinking waterholes.

The brief secondary dry season in June–August is also usable for travel in the south and highlands, though the extreme north sees peak heat in April and May. The main rainy season from August to October can make rural roads challenging, especially in the south, but brings spectacular jungle canopy conditions for gorilla and chimp habitation. The highlands stay relatively mild year-round and the Bamiléké cultural festivals typically take place in December and January — an exceptional time to witness traditional chieftaincy ceremonies.
