Weather in Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands enjoy excellent weather for most of the year, with the driest and coolest period running from November through April. During these months, temperatures range from 24°C to 29°C and the trade winds provide comfortable breezes, making it the peak tourist season when hotels and restaurants operate at full capacity. Visibility underwater during this window is frequently extraordinary — the famous Bloody Bay Wall on Little Cayman can offer 60-meter-plus visibility in ideal conditions.

May through October is the hotter, more humid season and falls within the Atlantic hurricane season, which officially runs June through November. The Cayman Islands can be affected by tropical storms and hurricanes during this period, though the territory sits in a relatively sheltered part of the western Caribbean. September and October carry the highest statistical hurricane risk. Summer months do offer lower rates at hotels and a quieter island experience, and the sea remains warm and inviting. Whale sharks occasionally appear in Cayman waters between November and April, making late-year visits particularly exciting for divers.
