Weather in Colombia

Colombia straddles the equator and has no traditional four seasons, but its climate is defined by dry and wet seasons that vary by region. For most of the country, the best months to visit are December to March and July to August — the two main dry seasons, when rainfall is lower and outdoor activities and beach trips are most reliably enjoyable. The Caribbean coast around Cartagena and Santa Marta is particularly appealing during these dry periods, with blue skies and calm seas.

The coffee-growing region (Eje Cafetero) is pleasant to visit year-round, as its highland altitude keeps temperatures moderate, though January through March and July through August are the driest periods. Medellín enjoys its famous "spring-like weather" (around 22°C) every day of the year due to its Valle de Aburrá altitude — making it one of the most consistently pleasant cities in the Americas. Bogotá sits at 2,600 meters and can be cool and rainy; the driest months there are December–January and July–August. The Pacific coast's whale-watching season (humpback whales) runs from July to November — a spectacular reason to visit this remote and spectacular coastline.
