Weather in Czechia

The best time to visit Czechia depends on what you're seeking. Spring — April through June — is arguably the finest season: the countryside bursts into bloom, temperatures are comfortable (15–22°C), and the tourist crowds have not yet reached peak summer intensity. Prague's parks and castle gardens are spectacular in late April and May, and outdoor café culture comes fully alive. Summer (July–August) brings warm temperatures up to 30°C, long daylight hours, and a full calendar of music festivals including the renowned Smetana's Litomyšl opera festival, though popular sites like Prague's Old Town Square can feel overwhelmingly crowded.

Autumn is another excellent window, particularly September and October. The Moravian wine harvest season fills rural villages with festivals, the forests glow with amber and gold, and the light is extraordinarily beautiful for photography. Winter brings Christmas magic: Prague's Christmas markets, held on Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square throughout December, are among Europe's most atmospheric, with mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, and handcrafted ornaments. January and February are the quietest months, with cold temperatures (often below freezing) but uncrowded museums and galleries offering a more contemplative experience of the country's cultural treasures.
