Weather in French Polynesia

The best time to visit French Polynesia is during the dry season, which runs from May through October. During these months, temperatures are pleasantly warm, hovering between 21°C and 28°C (70°F–82°F), humidity is lower, and rainfall is minimal. This period coincides with peak tourist season, so booking accommodations and flights well in advance is essential. The Heiva festival in July is a highlight, drawing visitors with traditional dance and cultural celebrations.

The wet season runs from November through April, bringing higher humidity, occasional tropical cyclones, and heavier rainfall, especially in January and February. However, this is also the time when the ocean is calmest for diving, water temperatures are warmer, and the islands are at their lushest and greenest. Prices drop significantly during this period, and you will encounter far fewer crowds. If you are a surfer, note that the legendary Teahupo'o breaks are most powerful from May through August.
