Weather in Georgia

Spring — April through June — is widely regarded as the finest time to visit Georgia. The landscapes are intensely green after winter rains, wildflowers cover the mountain slopes, and mild temperatures make sightseeing comfortable throughout the country. May is especially magical in Kakheti wine country, when the vines are leaf-heavy and the air smells of blossoms. The famous Tbilisoba city festival takes place in early October, celebrating Tbilisi's founding with street performances, food stalls, and open-air concerts across the Old Town.

Autumn, from September through November, offers another excellent window: harvests are underway in the wine regions, the mountain foliage turns spectacular shades of gold and crimson, and summer crowds have thinned. The harvest season in October — "rtveli" — is celebrated with particular energy in Kakheti, and many wineries welcome visitors to participate in the grape-picking. Summer months from July to August are hot in Tbilisi and the lowlands but ideal for high mountain trekking in Svaneti and Kazbegi. Winter is quiet and atmospheric in Tbilisi, and ski resorts at Gudauri and Bakuriani attract snow sports enthusiasts.
