Weather in Haiti

Haiti is best visited between November and March, the dry season, when temperatures are cooler and more comfortable — around 25°C to 30°C — and rainfall is minimal. December through February are the most pleasant months, with clear skies, lower humidity, and full accessibility to northern attractions including the Citadelle. This is also the best window for beach travel to the northern coast around Cap-Haïtien and the clearest conditions for hiking in the southern Pic Macaya area. January's Festival of Jacmel, a celebrated Carnival-style event in the charming southern coastal town, is a particularly rewarding time to experience Haitian creative culture.

April through June sees the main wet season, and October through November brings the second rainy period along with the risk of tropical storms and hurricanes — Haiti sits squarely within the Atlantic hurricane belt and has been devastated by major storms in the past. Carnival season in February is the country's most spectacular celebration, with elaborate costumes, music, and street parties across all major towns, and visiting for Carnival offers an unforgettable window into Haitian joy and cultural expression. If you plan to attend Carnival, book accommodation many months in advance.
