Weather in Iran

The best time to visit Iran is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when temperatures across most of the country are comfortably mild and the landscapes are at their most beautiful. Spring brings wildflowers to mountain valleys and sees Nowruz celebrations fill the streets with festivity. April is particularly pleasant for visiting central cities like Isfahan, Shiraz, and Yazd. Autumn offers golden light on ancient monuments and ideal trekking conditions in the Alborz Mountains.

Summer (June to August) can be extremely hot in the central deserts and southern cities like Ahvaz, where temperatures can exceed 45°C, though the Caspian coast remains lush and humid. Winter (December to February) brings snow to mountain areas, making them attractive to skiers heading to resorts near Tehran, but cities like Tehran can experience heavy smog and cold temperatures. The holy month of Ramadan brings altered opening hours for restaurants and attractions, and foreign visitors should be sensitive to local customs during this period.
