Weather in Kenya

Kenya has two distinct dry seasons that are widely considered the best times to visit. The long dry season runs from late June through October, coinciding with the famous Great Migration in the Masai Mara when wildebeest and zebra pour across the Mara River in dramatic crossings. Wildlife visibility is at its peak during these months, as vegetation thins and animals congregate around water sources. Temperatures are comfortable, ranging from around 15°C at night to 25°C by day.

The short dry season from January to March is another excellent window, particularly for visiting Amboseli National Park where elephants roam beneath the snowy cap of Mount Kilimanjaro. The coastal region around Diani and Malindi enjoys its finest weather between October and March, with calm seas ideal for snorkelling and diving. Kenya's two rainy seasons — the long rains from April to June and the short rains in November — bring lush green landscapes and fewer tourists, making them appealing for budget-conscious travellers who don't mind occasional afternoon showers.
