Weather in Libya

The best time to visit Libya is during the spring months of March, April, and early May, when temperatures across the country are comfortable and the Mediterranean coast offers pleasant conditions for sightseeing. Daytime highs in Tripoli hover around 22–26°C during this period, while the desert interior remains manageable before the brutal summer heat sets in. Spring also brings brief green flushes to the Jebel Akhdar highlands, making the landscape particularly scenic.

Autumn, from October through November, provides a second ideal window for travel. Desert temperatures cool enough for exploration of Saharan sites, and the coastal climate remains warm without excessive humidity. Summer months from June through August should be avoided in the interior, where temperatures can exceed 45°C. Winter brings cool, sometimes cold nights in the desert and mild conditions on the Mediterranean coast, making December through February acceptable for coastal visits though less suited for extensive desert expeditions.
