Weather in Martinique

Martinique enjoys a tropical climate with two main seasons, and either can offer rewarding travel experiences depending on your priorities. The dry season from December to May is the classic peak travel period, particularly January through April, when trade winds keep the island pleasantly fresh at 25–30°C, humidity is at its most comfortable, and blue skies dominate. This is the best time for beach holidays, hiking in the rainforest (trails are drier and safer), and boat trips between the islands. The Christmas period through Easter is the busiest and most expensive window, but the island is at its most festive and sociable.

February marks the spectacular Carnival season, which is reason enough to visit during an otherwise quiet month — the energy, color, and cultural richness of Martinican Carnival is something genuinely special in the Caribbean calendar. The wet season from June to November brings higher temperatures (up to 34°C), tropical showers, and the possibility of hurricanes between July and October. While the showers are usually intense but brief, leaving afternoons clear and even more lushly green, the risk of a tropical storm disrupting travel plans is real. June and November are reasonable shoulder-season compromise months offering lower prices and manageable weather. The rainforest trails in the north are most dramatic after heavy rain, and the waterfall volume is highest from September to November.
