Weather in Montserrat

The best time to visit Montserrat is from December through April, during the dry season, when rainfall is at its lowest and temperatures hover pleasantly between 24°C and 29°C. This period coincides with the main tourist season across the Caribbean and offers the best conditions for hiking, diving, and beach days. The St Patrick's Day Festival in mid-March is the island's biggest annual event and a wonderful time to experience the unique Afro-Irish cultural fusion that makes Montserrat genuinely distinctive.

The wet season runs from June through November, overlapping with the Atlantic hurricane season. While Montserrat can receive direct hits — Hurricane Hugo devastated the island in 1989 — travel during the shoulder months of May and November is still quite pleasant, with fewer visitors and lower accommodation prices. The summer months of July and August, despite the higher humidity, can be a good time to visit if you time your trip around one of the local cultural events. Always check volcanic activity advisories before visiting, as the Soufrière Hills remain active and exclusion zone boundaries can shift.
