Weather in Morocco

Morocco is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit depends on where you are heading. For the imperial cities, the Sahara, and the Atlas Mountains, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) offer ideal conditions — warm without being overwhelming, with clear skies and lush landscapes after the winter rains. These seasons are also the most pleasant for exploring medinas on foot and trekking through the mountains. Spring wildflowers in the Atlas and along the Atlantic coast add a special beauty to the landscape.

Summer (June to August) is extremely hot in the interior, with temperatures in Marrakech and the desert regularly exceeding 40°C, but the Atlantic coast from Agadir to Essaouira and Taghazout is cooled by ocean breezes and remains comfortable and popular for surfing. Winter (December to February) is mild and pleasant on the coast and in Marrakech, while the High Atlas receives significant snowfall that opens the ski resort of Oukaimeden and creates a magical backdrop for trekking. If you want to visit during Ramadan, expect a transformed atmosphere — many restaurants close during daylight hours, but the post-sunset iftar meal is a wonderful cultural experience.
