Weather in Myanmar

The optimal time to visit Myanmar is during the cool, dry season, which runs from November through February. During these months, temperatures are pleasantly mild — averaging 25–30°C in the lowlands — and rainfall is minimal, making sightseeing comfortable across all regions. This is particularly important for visiting Bagan, where dust and heat can become oppressive in other seasons. December and January are peak months, so expect slightly higher prices and more fellow travellers at popular sites.

March through May brings the hot season, when temperatures in central Myanmar can exceed 40°C, making outdoor exploration challenging. The monsoon season from June to October delivers heavy rainfall that can flood roads and disrupt travel in the delta and coastal regions, though the landscapes become lush and verdant and tourist numbers drop significantly. Inle Lake and hill stations like Kalaw remain pleasant even during the wet season, and budget travellers will find better deals at this time.
