Weather in Nepal

The best time to visit Nepal falls during the pre-monsoon spring season from March through May, when rhododendrons blaze red and pink across the hillsides and trekking conditions are near perfect. Temperatures at lower elevations are pleasantly warm, mountain views are generally clear in the mornings, and wildflowers carpet alpine meadows. This season coincides with peak mountaineering season, so Everest Base Camp and popular routes can be busy, but the energy is electric.

The post-monsoon autumn window from October through November is equally celebrated, often considered the prime trekking period. Skies scrubbed clean by the monsoon deliver crystal-clear mountain vistas, temperatures are moderate, and the festive season of Dashain and Tihar adds cultural richness to any itinerary. December through February brings cold but dry conditions with spectacular snow scenery; the monsoon season from June through September is lush and verdant but brings heavy rainfall and limited mountain visibility, making it suitable mainly for cultural tourism in the valley.
