Weather in Northern Mariana Islands

The best time to visit the Northern Mariana Islands is during the dry season from December to June, when rainfall is lower, humidity is more manageable, and the trade winds keep temperatures comfortably in the 26–30°C range. January to March can be slightly cooler and very pleasant for outdoor activities, hiking, and diving. The clear, calm ocean conditions during the dry season make it the ideal time for diving and snorkelling, particularly around Rota and the Blue Hole off Saipan.

The wet season from July to November brings heavier rainfall and higher humidity. This period also coincides with typhoon season, and the CNMI has been significantly affected by typhoons in recent years — Typhoon Yutu in 2018 caused major damage to Saipan and Tinian. While the wet season is generally manageable for casual visitors, severe weather systems can disrupt travel plans unpredictably. November and July can offer lower accommodation rates for flexible travellers willing to monitor weather forecasts carefully.
