Weather in Palau

Palau enjoys a tropical climate with warm temperatures throughout the year, generally ranging from 27 to 32°C, and the ocean temperature rarely dips below 28°C — conditions that make it a year-round diving destination. The dry season runs from November through April and is generally considered the best time to visit, with lower humidity, less rainfall, and calmer seas that make boat travel between islands more comfortable. December through February is the peak tourist season, when visibility for diving is often at its best, particularly at sites exposed to seasonal currents.

The wet season from May through October brings higher humidity and more frequent rain — often in dramatic afternoon thunderstorms rather than sustained downpours. This season has its advantages: hotel prices drop significantly, the islands are quieter, and certain dive sites are in better condition due to the direction of seasonal currents. Jellyfish Lake is open year-round (subject to periodic closures for ecological monitoring), while the best conditions for manta ray encounters at German Channel are typically from November through April. The typhoon season peaks between June and October, though Palau is somewhat sheltered by its position — check weather forecasts for any planned extended ocean passages.
