Weather in South Korea

South Korea has four distinct seasons, each offering a different but rewarding travel experience. Spring, from late March to May, is widely considered the most beautiful time to visit. Cherry blossoms transform cities and countryside into seas of pale pink, and mild temperatures make outdoor exploration delightful. The cherry blossom season, particularly in Seoul, Gyeongju, and along the southern coast, typically peaks in early to mid-April and draws enormous crowds.

Autumn, from September to November, rivals spring for visual splendour, as the country's extensive mountain ranges turn brilliant shades of red, orange, and gold. October is the prime hiking month, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures. Summer (June–August) is hot and humid, with a monsoon season in July and August, but the beaches of Busan and Jeju draw large domestic crowds. Winter (December–February) is cold and dry, ideal for skiing at resorts like Pyeongchang, and the festive atmosphere in Seoul around Lunar New Year is memorable.
