Weather in Thailand

Thailand's climate varies significantly by region, but the generally accepted best time to visit is during the cool dry season from November through February. During these months, temperatures across most of the country settle into a comfortable 25–32°C range, humidity is at its lowest, and skies are reliably clear. This is peak season for Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the Gulf Coast islands of Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, with beach conditions excellent and festival highlights including Loi Krathong (November) and Yi Peng making this a magical period to visit.

For the Andaman Coast destinations — Krabi, Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, and the Similan Islands — the best months are November through April, when the northeast monsoon keeps these shores calm and clear. March and April can feel hot even in the north, building toward the scorching Thai summer. The southwest monsoon season (May to October) brings heavy rain to the Andaman side but is actually the best time for the Gulf Coast (Koh Samui, Koh Tao), since the Andaman rain shadow keeps these islands relatively dry. The full rainy season (July to September) delivers lush green landscapes and excellent waterfall conditions but can disrupt outdoor plans.
