Weather in Togo

The best time to visit Togo is during the main dry season from November through February, when the harmattan wind blows down from the Sahara carrying cool, dry air that makes temperatures across the country agreeable — typically 25–32°C. This period offers the most reliable conditions for road travel, hiking in the Kpalimé region's waterfalls and mountains, and visiting the Tamberma Valley cultural sites in the north. The harmattan haze can occasionally reduce visibility and coat surfaces with fine red dust, but the trade-off in comfortable temperatures is well worth it.

A shorter dry season occurs in July and August in southern Togo, while the north experiences its main dry period from October through April. The two main rainy seasons in the south — April to June and September to October — bring lush green landscapes but can render some rural roads muddy and challenging. Lomé's coastal climate is moderated by sea breezes year-round, making the capital reasonably comfortable in most months. The Epe-Ekpe Ewe New Year festival in September and the Evala wrestling festival in the Kara region (June to July) are culturally unmissable events worth planning your visit around.
