Weather in Brunei

Brunei lies near the equator and experiences a hot, humid tropical climate year-round, with temperatures hovering around 28°C to 33°C throughout the year. The country experiences two distinct monsoon seasons: the southwest monsoon from May to September and the northeast monsoon from October to March. Neither season brings continuous rain — typically there are sharp afternoon downpours followed by sunshine — but the northeast monsoon from November through January tends to bring more sustained and heavier rainfall, occasionally causing flooding in some areas.

The best time to visit Brunei is generally between March and May and again from June through September, when rainfall is less frequent and conditions are more reliably fine for outdoor activities and rainforest visits. February through April is also the optimal time for wildlife spotting in Ulu Temburong, when conditions are drier and animals are more active. If you are interested in attending cultural events, the Sultan's birthday celebrations in mid-July include spectacular military parades, traditional ceremonies, and public festivities that offer a unique window into Bruneian culture.
