Weather in Israel

Spring (March to May) is widely considered the best time to visit Israel. Temperatures are ideal — 20–27°C in the coast and interior, cooler in the highlands — wildflowers carpet the Galilee and Golan Heights, and the Easter/Passover season adds cultural depth to Jerusalem visits, though it also brings significant crowds to religious sites. The light is golden and photography conditions are superb; hiking trails in the Negev and the Israel National Trail are at peak accessibility.

Autumn (October–November) is the second-best window, following the intense summer heat and after the High Holy Days (Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur) in September and October, when many attractions are closed. Temperatures ease to a comfortable 22–28°C and the Dead Sea and Red Sea remain warm enough for swimming. Summer (June–September) is hot everywhere — Tel Aviv's beaches are packed, the Negev is ferociously hot (40°C+), and Jerusalem bakes but remains drier than the coast. Winter (December–February) brings rain to the north and centre, snow occasionally to Jerusalem, and is the best season for diving in Eilat's Red Sea, where water temperatures stay around 22°C.
