Weather in Marshall Islands

The Marshall Islands enjoys a tropical oceanic climate that is relatively consistent year-round, moderated by its position in the central Pacific. The best time to visit is during the dry season from December to April, when northeast trade winds keep conditions pleasant, rainfall is lower, and ocean visibility for diving and snorkeling is at its finest. Temperatures hover between 27°C and 32°C throughout the year, and the surrounding ocean temperature rarely drops below 28°C, making swimming and diving comfortable in any month. December through March offers the calmest conditions for inter-atoll boat travel.

The wetter season from May to November brings higher humidity, more frequent rain squalls, and the possibility of tropical storms, particularly between July and October. While rainfall is generally measured in brief heavy downpours rather than sustained grey days, some outer atolls can be difficult to reach during periods of rough inter-island seas. The diving is still excellent during the wetter months, and accommodation is easier to secure outside peak season. Bikini Atoll, which requires advance permits and liveaboard arrangements, is accessible primarily between April and November when conditions allow. Whenever you visit, the Marshalls' remote location means you will need to plan well in advance with limited accommodation options in mind.
