Weather in Pakistan

The best time to visit northern Pakistan — the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hunza Valley — is from April through October, with the peak season running from June to September when the high-altitude trekking passes are clear of snow and the days are long. May and June see the apricot and cherry blossoms in the Hunza Valley, creating landscapes of extraordinary beauty. August and September are ideal for trekking to K2 base camp and other high-altitude destinations. The Shandur Polo Festival, held at 3,700 metres altitude in July, is one of the world's most extraordinary sporting events.

For the cultural cities of Lahore, Islamabad, and the archaeological sites of Mohenjo-daro and Taxila, winter — from October through February — offers the most comfortable temperatures, typically ranging from 10 to 22°C. Lahore's mango season in June and July is beloved by locals and delicious for visitors willing to brave the heat. The Sindh and Punjab plains become fiercely hot from April through September, with summer temperatures regularly exceeding 45°C. The Balochistan coast and Karachi enjoy mild winters and a busy social season from November through February. Monsoon rains from July through September bring dramatic landscapes to the foothills but can disrupt road travel in mountain areas.
