Weather in Wallis and Futuna

The best time to visit Wallis and Futuna is during the dry season, which runs from approximately May through October. During these months, rainfall is significantly lower than the rest of the year, humidity is more manageable, and temperatures sit comfortably between 20°C and 28°C. The seas around the islands are calmer, making the inter-island journey between Wallis and Futuna more comfortable — either by small inter-island aircraft or by irregular boat services.

The wet season from November through April brings heavy tropical rainfall, high humidity, and the risk of tropical cyclones — the island group sits within the cyclone belt and has experienced damaging storms in the past. However, the lush vegetation is at its most vivid green during the wet months, and if your visit happens to coincide with a major traditional ceremony or feast, the social rewards can outweigh the meteorological inconveniences.
